This event will bring together leaders from a wide variety
of organizations to find common ground, build momentum and
widen the network of people who share our concerns and act
for justice, peace and reconciliation for Israelis and
Palestinians. The event will be held on Sunday, August 17,

Mike Stanch, from the Synod Environmental Group,
will be explaining the new Com Ed incentives for energy reductions and
explaining the Synod Loan program for retrofitting light fixtures.
PAI is a group of church business administrators
who gather every other month to share resources and discuss topics to help our
parishes (and the administrators who run them) work more efficiently; enabling
congregations to carry out their mission and vision.

This workshop,
offered by Region 6 of the ELCA, examines the dynamics of
multiple staff ministry, and offers ways of effectively
engaging in multiple staff ministry. The workshop is
planned for teams of both clergy and non-clergy, full-time

The American
Heart Association and the American Red Cross both recommend
that automatic external defibrillators (AEDS) be placed in
all public buildings. The synod office has purchased an AED
and has provided training to the entire staff and recommends
that all congregations consider placing AEDS in their
buildings. The reasons are outlined

Lutheran
Outdoor Ministries Center (LOMC) and Lutherdale
Ministries invite you to a Christian Concert music
explosion on August 23, 2008, from 12 – 10 p.m. at the
Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Center located at 834 IL Rt.

The concert will feature

Electra 225, the Bethany Youth Choir and Adult Choir,

The
synod will hold its next All-synod Worship Service, “A
Celebration of Faith - Conversation and Communion,” on
Sunday, August 31, 2008, at the Lutheran School of
Theology at Chicago, 1100 E. 55th St., Chicago, IL 60615.
Beginning at 3 p.m., Bishop Miller will be leading a
discussion about Stewardship of Life. The worship service
will include the celebration of the Eucharist, and will
begin at 4:30 p.m.
Everyone is invited to attend both parts of this event. The
final All-synod Worship Service for this year will take
place on November 30, 2008.

The mission of the Grünewald
Guild, an ecumenical Christian community, is to promote and
encourage creativity within individuals and congregations in
response to the mystery of creation through the exploration
of art and faith. This fall, the Guild is pleased to offer
an experience celebrating its unique community in a central
location. The Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC)
is hosting a short seminar with four classes from which to
choose:

The hours of the event are
Friday, September 19, 2008, 6:30-9:00 p.m. and Saturday,
September 20, 2008, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. with a one-hour
break for lunch. The evening on Friday will begin with a
short meditation and the day on Saturday will conclude with
a festive celebration of their work together. The cost is
$75 plus a fee for materials per class. Meals will not be
provided. Housing at LSTC is available on a limited basis.
